But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah,
    who are too little to be among the clans of Judah,
from you shall come forth for me
    one who is to be ruler in Israel,
whose coming forth is from of old,
    from ancient days.

From the manger to the cross, to Thy glorious return! Oh Lord, Thou humbled Thyself in order to redeem us. Born in Bethlehem Ephrathah, the least of all Judah. Humility oh Lord, is Thy instruction. Thou art born to be ruler over all! If my Lord humbled Himself, let my mind be also like Thee Oh Lord, not to disdain humility, but to embrace it.

Therefore he shall give them up until the time
    when she who is in labor has given birth;
then the rest of his brothers shall return
    to the people of Israel.

Thy honor oh Lord, Thou display, for truly were we given up one time. Yet in the fullness of time, Thou oh Jesus, was born of a virgin, born under the law, that the rest of Thy brothers shall return to Thee.

And he shall stand and shepherd his flock in the strength of the Lord,
    in the majesty of the name of the Lord his God.
And they shall dwell secure, for now he shall be great
    to the ends of the earth.
And he shall be their peace.

When the Assyrian comes into our land
    and treads in our palaces,
then we will raise against him seven shepherds
    and eight princes of men;

Thou art our hold oh Lord, For it is Thee who stands and shepherds Thy flock. Thy flock oh Lord which tends to go astray. Thy flock oh Lord who are surrounded by those seeking to steal, kill, and destroy. If not for Thee oh Lord, I would have remained lost, damned, destroyed. Yet Thou assureth us of Thy security - a security that enables us to dwell in peace. For Thou art great oh Lord, not just in one territory or area, but to the ends of the earth. Yet not only Thou protecteth us Lord, Thou also heighten our strength, to be able to stand firm against the enemies that seek to destroy us.

Thank you Lord.
